Priscilla and Wayne Mahar

How it all began…

Canine Carnival began as an idea by Wayne Mahar as a tribute to his mom and has become a major event for Syracuse and Central New York. Over the years, it has grown to become one of the largest animal rescue events in the country attracting people and rescue organizations from across Central New York.

Over the past 10 years, Canine Carnival, in partnership with the Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation (PMAWF), the charity behind the Canine Carnival, has donated nearly $400,000 to CNY animal rescues!

In 2018, Galaxy Events Company and Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation formed a partnership. Galaxy Events Company knows how to manage large, successful events. Taste of Syracuse, the Syracuse Nationals, Lights on the Lake and multiple Wine & Chocolate Festivals are just a few of the great events Galaxy heads up. Galaxy Events and PMAWF look forward to a great partnership, working together to help homeless animals in our community.

NEW THIS YEAR - The Canine Carnival Paw-rade!

Join us for the 1st annual Canine Carnival Paw-rade and get ready for some fur family fun! Parade your pets around the perimeter of the Canine Carnival to kick off the event and help raise funds for local shelters and rescues! A ticket to the Paw-rade also includes entry to Canine Carnival, a premium convertible bungee dog leash and portable dog bowl (donated by Pet Fit For Life), and a Canine Carnival doggie bandana.

The Paw-rade is not timed - nor do we encourage running/jogging. This will be a safe 1-mile stroll through the trails, grass, and pavement to show off your pups! The Paw-rade will be limited to 300 people, so get your ticket before we sell out! Event will be rain or shine!

Check-in will begin at 8:30am at the start line at the bottom of the parking area. Bandanas will be received upon entry to corral. Start time will be 9:30am. See the map below for the Paw-rade route.
